about

I was in a kinda dark mood on an otherwise sunny day in July, 2016, thinking too much about Trump and Brexit, lessons not learned, mistakes soon to be repeated. There was a stereo mic set up and patched in across the tracking room at the studio (I was out there doing a percussion overdub on something), and while Pro Tools was still rolling, I walked over to the piano, sat down and started playing. This track is what came out. You can hear the rattle of a snare drum across the room and some other ambient sounds. There's something spooky and resonant about the inadvertent nature of the sound and spontaneity of the composition, it seemed worth sharing. Note that this isn't a pop song, it's an instrumental drone/meditative piece recorded live in one take.
